US President Donald Trump announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” after mediation by the United States. This development comes after three days of heavy exchange of fire between the two nations. Trump congratulated both countries for demonstrating common sense and intelligence in resolving the conflict.

The ceasefire agreement was confirmed by India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who stated that Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called his Indian counterpart and agreed to stop all firing and military action on land, air, and sea, effective 5 pm. The agreement aims to bring a halt to the recent hostilities, which escalated after Pakistan targeted 26 military sites and civilian infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat with drones and missiles.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also played a key role in de-escalating the situation, engaging with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif. Rubio tweeted that India and Pakistan would start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site. However, India refuted this statement, saying there was no decision to hold talks on other issues at another location.
