Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has urged US President Donald Trump to drop his threats of annexing Greenland, saying “that’s enough now” and emphasizing that the island is not for sale. Nielsen’s statement comes after Trump reiterated his desire to acquire Greenland, citing national security concerns and the island’s strategic location between Europe and North America. The Danish territory has been a point of contention between the US and Denmark, with Trump’s comments sparking international backlash and solidarity from European allies.

Nielsen emphasized that Greenland is a democracy and its people will decide their own future, not the US or any other country. He also warned against “fantasies of annexation” and stressed that dialogue should happen through proper channels and with respect for international law. Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has also urged Trump to stop the threats, saying the US has no right to annex Greenland and that it would mark the end of NATO.
