The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is preparing to unveil a collection of never-before-seen ‘Star Wars’ pieces, giving fans a rare look into the creative history behind the galaxy far, far away.

The upcoming exhibition will draw from George Lucas’s personal archive, which includes decades of concept art, costumes, props, models, and production materials that were kept out of public view. Many of the items were developed during the original trilogy and later films but never made it to the screen, offering insight into early designs for characters, ships, and entire worlds that evolved along the way.

Curators say the display is meant to show how storytelling through film, art, and design all came together to build the ‘Star Wars’ universe. Visitors will be able to see hand-painted matte paintings, early lightsaber prototypes, alien creature sketches, and set pieces that reveal the scale of work done behind the scenes. Some pieces are fragile or unfinished, and this will be the first time they are being exhibited in a museum setting.

The Lucas Museum, located in Los Angeles, was founded to explore narrative art across all forms, and ‘Star Wars’ has long been a centerpiece of that mission. Organizers expect the exhibition to attract both longtime fans and newcomers interested in how iconic stories are built from imagination to screen.

Dates and ticket details are expected to be announced in the coming months, but the museum has confirmed that conservation work is already underway to prepare the pieces for public display. For many, it will be the closest look yet at the raw ideas and artwork that helped shape one of the most influential film sagas in history.
