Liverpool’s new signing, Florian Wirtz, got off to a flying start with the Reds, scoring his first goal for the club in a friendly match against Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan. The match, which Liverpool won 3-1, saw Wirtz slot home a right-footed shot from inside the box after latching onto a pass from Mohamed Salah. The German midfielder expressed his delight after scoring his first goal for the club, saying, “I’m really happy that I could score my first goal. I hope there are more to come.”

The friendly match was a significant occasion for Liverpool, with the team dedicating the win to the late Diogo Jota with an emotional tribute before kickoff. Wirtz’s teammates, including Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha, also made their mark on the game, with Nyoni volleying home a cross from Jeremie Frimpong and Ngumoha dribbling past several defenders before firing in a shot from the edge of the box.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot was pleased with the team’s performance, despite noting that there were areas for improvement. The win was a positive result for the Reds, and Wirtz’s goal was a promising sign for the upcoming season. With Wirtz settling in well and the team looking sharp, Liverpool fans will be eager to see what the future holds for this talented squad.
