Despite being down to the bare bones due to injuries and players away at the Africa Cup of Nations, Roma secured late goals from Manu Kone and Matias Soule to break Sassuolo’s resistance. Kone headed home the opener in the 77th minute, and Soule sealed the win two minutes later with a calm finish from Stephan El Shaarawy’s flick. Roma now sits third, level on 39 points with second-placed AC Milan, who play at Fiorentina on Sunday.
