Phoenix Handball Club has taken its preseason preparations to the mountains of Belluno, Italy, for an intensive training camp aimed at sharpening fitness, tactics, and team chemistry ahead of the new season.
The decision to hold camp in Belluno gives the squad a change of environment away from daily distractions. Surrounded by the Dolomites, players have been putting in double sessions focused on conditioning, defensive structures, and fast-break play. Coaches say the altitude and fresh air are helping with stamina, while the seclusion is bringing the group closer together off the court as well.
For Phoenix, the timing is important. With new signings settling in and younger players pushing for more minutes, the camp is a chance to build a shared style of play and test combinations in a competitive but controlled setting. Friendly matches against local Italian sides have also been built into the schedule, giving the team valuable game time against different tactical approaches.
Club officials described the camp as both physically demanding and mentally rewarding. The players are staying, training, and eating together, which they say is accelerating trust and communication — two things that matter a lot in a sport as fast and physical as handball.
By the time Phoenix returns home, the goal is to come back fitter, sharper, and more united. With league fixtures approaching, Belluno is meant to be the foundation, a week of hard work that sets the tone for everything that follows.
