The Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly found a buyer in billionaire Tom Dundon, the owner of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes. Dundon is set to purchase the team for a valuation of $4.25 billion, pending approval from the NBA Board of Governors. The sale would mark a new era for the Trail Blazers, who have been owned by the estate of Paul Allen since his death in 2018.

Dundon’s investment group includes co-investors Sheel Tyle, founder and co-CEO of Collective Global, and Marc Zahr, president of Blue Owl Capital. The group aims to keep the team in Portland, ensuring continuity and stability for the franchise. The Trail Blazers’ valuation of $4.25 billion is slightly above the estimated value of $3.65 billion by CNBC in 2025.

The sale is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the team, with Dundon’s experience as a sports owner potentially benefiting the franchise. As the deal awaits approval, Trail Blazers fans are likely to be watching closely to see how the new ownership group will shape the team’s future.
