Lionel Messi was knocked to the ground by a fan and a security guard during Inter Miami’s friendly match against Independiente del Valle in Puerto Rico. The incident occurred in the 88th minute when a fan rushed onto the field and grabbed Messi from behind, causing both the fan and Messi to fall to the ground. Messi, who scored a penalty in the 70th minute, appeared unharmed and quickly got up, walking away to another part of the pitch.
The match, which was originally scheduled for February 13, was postponed due to Messi’s leg discomfort. Inter Miami went on to win the game 2-1, with Santiago Morales scoring the opening goal in the 16th minute. The incident has raised concerns about stadium security, with some calling for stricter perimeter controls and more robust crowd management.
