Inter Miami has announced that the east stand of its new Nu Stadium will be named after Lionel Messi, making him the first athlete to have a stand named after him while still actively playing. The “Leo Messi Stand” will be part of the 26,700-seat stadium, which is set to open on April 4 with a match against Austin FC. This unique tribute recognizes Messi’s incredible impact on the club and the sport, with 82 goals and 53 assists in just 94 appearances.

Messi’s achievements with Inter Miami include winning the Leagues Cup, MLS Supporters’ Shield, Eastern Conference title, and MLS Cup. He’s also become the club’s all-time leading scorer and assist provider. This honor reflects his current influence on the team and the league, rather than just being a nostalgic tribute.
