British tennis star Jack Draper has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming Australian Open, citing an ongoing recovery from a complex left arm injury. The world No. 10 player, who has been struggling with bone bruising in his serving arm since April, revealed in a video message on social media that he and his team have decided not to travel to Melbourne for the Grand Slam. Draper, 24, had been hoping to return to competition but ultimately prioritized his long-term health over a rushed comeback.

The injury has been a significant setback for Draper, who had enjoyed a strong start to 2025, winning his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells and reaching a career-high ranking of No. 4. However, his season was cut short after the US Open, and he has since missed several tournaments, including the Ultimate Tennis Showdown Grand Final in London.

Draper’s withdrawal from the Australian Open means he will likely target a return in February, ahead of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells in March, where he will defend 1,000 ranking points. The British No. 1 expressed his gratitude for fans’ support and optimism for his future, stating, “I’m looking forward to getting back out there in 2026 and competing”.
