Leon Goretzka will be leaving Bayern Munich at the end of the current season, marking the end of an eight-year chapter with the German giants. The 30-year-old midfielder announced his decision on Instagram, citing his desire to start a new chapter in his career. “As much as I’m honored by the interest from top international clubs, I’ve made a clear decision for myself that I want to stay at Bayern until the end of the season,” Goretzka wrote.

Goretzka’s departure was confirmed by Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, who praised the midfielder’s contributions to the club. During his time at Bayern, Goretzka won six Bundesliga titles, two German cups, and the Champions League in 2020. He has made 292 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 47 goals and providing 48 assists.

Atletico Madrid has been linked with Goretzka, with reports suggesting they made an offer to sign him during the winter transfer window. However, Goretzka opted to stay with Bayern until the end of the season, focusing on securing more titles with the club.
