Victor Zammit, the influential businessman and long-serving former president of Birkirkara FC, has passed away. He led the club from 1998 to 2009, a transformative era during which Birkirkara rose to prominence in Maltese football.
Under his guidance, the team secured 18 major trophies, including two Premier League titles, four FA Trophies, and five Super Cups. Zammit is widely credited with laying the groundwork for the club’s enduring success.
As a tribute, Birkirkara players will wear black armbands during Thursday’s UEFA Conference League fixture against FC Petrocub.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
