The Australian Open was hit by extreme heat on Saturday, with temperatures soaring to 38C and triggering a five-hour suspension of matches on outside courts. Despite the challenging conditions, Novak Djokovic powered to a landmark win, becoming the first player to secure 400 Grand Slam match victories. The Serbian tennis star defeated Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) on Rod Laver Arena, setting up a clash with Czech rising star Jakub Mensik.
Meanwhile, two-time champion Naomi Osaka withdrew from the tournament due to an abdominal injury, breaking the hearts of her fans. The Japanese star had made a grand entrance earlier in the week, wearing a jellyfish-inspired outfit. Other top players, including Jannik Sinner and Madison Keys, also battled through the heat to advance to the next round.
