The Lionesses have secured a spot in the Women’s Euro 2025 final after a heart-stopping 2-1 victory over Italy in extra time. Italy took the lead in the 33rd minute with Barbara Bonansea’s goal, but England’s determination paid off when Michelle Agyemang equalized in the sixth minute of stoppage time, forcing the match into extra time. The dramatic turn of events continued when Chloe Kelly scored the winning goal in the 119th minute, after her penalty kick was saved, but she quickly reacted to slot the rebound into the net.

This thrilling win marks England’s third consecutive major tournament final, and they will now face either Spain or Germany in the final, which will take place on Sunday, July 27, at St. Jakob-Park in Basel. England coach Sarina Wiegman expressed her relief and happiness, stating, “I have many emotions… it feels a bit surreal, but we are here, and we are going to the final.” Kelly, who scored the winner, echoed Wiegman’s sentiments, saying, “It is incredible to be part of this special team. I am so proud.”

The match was a testament to England’s resilience and teamwork, with Wiegman praising her team’s ability to stay focused and determined throughout the 120 minutes. Italy’s coach, Andrea Soncin, was proud of his team’s performance, despite the heartbreaking loss, and highlighted the team’s growth and spirit under his leadership.
