Trump Warns Russia’s Medvedev to ‘Watch His Words’ as Tariff Spat Expands to India

On Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump raised tensions with Moscow by directly warning former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to “watch his words” in a furious argument over Washington’s ceasefire demand to Russia.

Trump wrote on his Truth, “Tell Medvedev, the failed former president of Russia who believes he is still president, to watch his words. He’s getting in a very risky area!” The social account says the U.S. should “minimally” retain trade with Russia.

Comments from Trump attacked India as well, condemning its trade ties with Russia and proclaiming a 25% tax on Indian imports beginning Friday. “We have done hardly any trade with India; their tariffs are too high, among the highest in the world,” he commented. “Alongside China, they are Russia’s biggest buyer of energy and have always acquired a vast majority of their military gear from Russia—at a time when everyone wants Russia to cease the slaughter in Ukraine.”

Although the White House formerly designated India a strategic partner, Trump’s most recent statements imply growing aggravation regarding New Delhi’s impartial stance on Russia’s war in Ukraine. His remarks come as Washington increases economic pressure on Moscow and warns of more penalties unless Russia complies with a ten-day ceasefire.

For his contentious remarks on Western leaders and nuclear threats, Medvedev, now Russia’s Security Council deputy chairman, has come under international censure over the last several months.
