The restoration costs of Fort Chambray are set to be covered by the taxpayers. However, investors involved in the project will face a €6m cap on expenses. As part of our ongoing commitment to preserving and safeguarding our national heritage, the restoration costs for Fort Chambray will be borne by the taxpayers. This historical site, located in Gozo, holds immense cultural significance and it is our duty to ensure its longevity.
To maintain fiscal responsibility, investors will be subject to a maximum expense cap of €6m. However, it is important to note that their full financial contribution will be reimbursed in due course. By allocating the burden of restoration to the taxpayers while offering reimbursement to investors, we strive to strike a balance between public funding and private investment in the preservation of Fort Chambray. As part of efforts to preserve and protect this historical site, the responsibility of funding its restoration falls upon the taxpayers.
