Two housekeepers were recently caught stealing a bag and €350 from a hotel room, highlighting the importance of securing valuables while traveling. Unfortunately, this incident is not isolated, as hotel guests have reported numerous cases of theft by housekeeping staff. To minimize the risk of theft, it’s essential to take proactive measures to protect your belongings.

When staying at a hotel, it’s crucial to be mindful of your surroundings and keep your valuables secure. One of the best ways to do this is by using the hotel safe to store your valuables, such as jewelry, cash, and important documents. If the hotel room doesn’t have a safe, you can ask the front desk to store your valuables in their safe. Additionally, consider using a portable travel safe or a diversion safe to add an extra layer of protection to your belongings.

If you suspect that housekeeping has stolen from you, remain calm and take immediate action. Inform hotel security and management about the incident, and they will investigate and take necessary actions. You can also ask the hotel to review surveillance footage to identify the perpetrator. If the stolen items are valuable, consider filing a police report to increase the chances of recovering your belongings. If you have travel insurance, notify your provider about the incident, and they may cover the cost of the stolen items.
