The Prime Minister is considering introducing regulations to restrict social media access for children under 13 years old. This move aims to protect young users from potential online harm, including exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and data privacy risks. The decision reflects growing concerns about the impact of social media on children’s mental health, well-being, and safety.

In India, existing laws and regulations govern social media, including the Information Technology Act and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Regulations, 2021. These regulations require social media platforms to appoint grievance officers, remove objectionable content, and adhere to due diligence requirements.

Additionally, the government is exploring reforms to laws related to In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The proposed changes aim to ensure that IVF practices align with evolving medical standards, ethics, and societal needs. While details about the specific reforms are limited, this development suggests the government’s commitment to addressing emerging issues in healthcare and technology.
