Paris Fashion Week has begun with a bang, showcasing the latest creations from top designers. Saint Laurent took center stage, presenting a collection that embodied the essence of clothing as a form of discourse. The brand’s show, held at the iconic Place du Trocadero, featured models strutting between flowerbeds of white hydrangeas arranged in the shape of the label’s logo. Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello’s vision for Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection focused on clothing in its purest form, with bold hues and clean silhouettes that nodded to the house’s storied past.

The collection was marked by technical fabrics like stretch jersey, stone-washed textures, and sparse yet potent accessories. Vaccarello’s designs exuded quiet confidence, prioritizing artistry over commercial cues. His approach was rooted in ready-to-wear, emphasizing cut and color rather than embellishment.

This season’s Paris Fashion Week promises to be a spectacle, with around 10 different labels featuring new creative directors. Matthieu Blazy’s debut at Chanel is highly anticipated, and VIPs are eagerly awaiting Jonathan Anderson’s first women’s collection for LVMH-owned Dior. Other notable shows include Victoria Beckham’s latest designs and Pierpaolo Piccioli’s collection at Balenciaga.

The fashion world is abuzz with excitement, as this season’s Paris Fashion Week signals a changing of the guard in global fashion. With slowing demand in China, US tariffs on exports, and uncertainty over the global economy, the luxury industry is banking on fresh excitement from new creative directors to boost sales. As Pierre Groppo, fashion editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair magazine in France, notes, “We’re opening a new chapter, not so much for Fashion Week itself, but for what fashion will be over the next 10 years”.
