Beatrice Njoya for Miss Universe 2024

Beatrice Njoya, the 2024 Miss Universe Malta, spoke out on Popolin about the racist remarks and hate speech she experienced while competing as the representative of Malta. The initial idea is not to try to figure out what’s happening.

She laments that the initial impulse is to pass judgment and engage in hate speech.

“We have lot of people who run faster than wisdom,” Njoya says, criticizing those who don’t take the time to learn more and instead just direct their hatred at strangers.

Njoya describes in her speech how one of her kids showed her that they had made phony account on
TikTok to protect their mother from hate
speech.

“How do they (her kids) feel after reading those things about their mother?” Njoya inquired.

“No matter what you said, she would still be the current Miss Universe Malta champion.”
