Hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Didldy’ Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison, exceeding four years, for prostitution-related charges. The sentence was handed down by US District Judge Arun Subramanian at a Manhattan federal court, who rebuked Combs for subjecting two former girlfriends to years of abuse. Combs was convicted in July on two counts of arranging for paid male escorts to participate in drug-fueled sexual performances with his girlfriends while he recorded videos and masturbated.
The judge rejected the defense’s characterization of the incidents as “merely intimate, consensual experiences” and instead described them as “subjugation” that drove both victims to thoughts of ending their lives. Combs’ defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo stated that the hip-hop mogul pleaded not guilty and will appeal the sentence. Before his sentencing, Combs apologized to the victims, Casandra Ventura and a woman known as “Jane,” and claimed to have learned his lesson, saying, “I know I’ll never put my hands on another person again”.
Combs’ lawyers also presented a video showcasing his charitable work, including playing with his children, speaking to public school students, and running in the New York Marathon to raise money for charity. Despite facing a maximum possible sentence of 20 years, Combs could be released in less than three years after receiving credit for the time he has already spent in custody since his September 16, 2024, arrest.
