The Bank of Valletta (BOV) has been recognized with the prestigious ‘Inclusive Banking and Social Impact Award’ by the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI-ESBG) for its outstanding contributions to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This award highlights BOV’s leadership and tangible impact in promoting financial inclusion and social responsibility. The bank’s initiatives, such as the Staff Volunteering Programme and the collaboration with Migrant Women Association Malta, have made a significant difference in the lives of many individuals and communities.

The Staff Volunteering Programme, which enabled over 2,400 BOV employees to dedicate one working day to volunteering with local NGOs, has not only strengthened local NGO capacity but also reinforced a culture of social engagement within the bank. The program with Migrant Women Association Malta provided essential skills to migrant, asylum-seeking, and refugee women, empowering them to integrate into Malta’s society and economy. Many participants have transitioned into self-employment or secured formal jobs in the tailoring industry.

BOV’s commitment to inclusive banking and social impact is also reflected in its annual Volleyball Marathon, which has raised over €460,000 for Id-Dar tal-Providenza, funding improved care, therapy, and facilities. This dedication to social responsibility is a testament to BOV’s position as a catalyst for social inclusion and well-being in Malta.
