A new ceramic mural in Pembroke is giving the town a fresh portrait, told entirely through the perspective of local children.

The artwork was created as a community project, with students from schools across Pembroke contributing drawings, ideas, and impressions of the places that matter most to them. Those sketches were then translated into glazed ceramic tiles by artists working alongside the children, turning everyday scenes into a permanent public installation.

From playgrounds and parks to shop fronts, beaches, and neighborhood streets, the mural weaves together the small details that shape daily life in Pembroke. The bright colors and hand-painted textures reflect a child’s sense of scale and wonder, capturing both familiar landmarks and quiet corners that adults might overlook.

Organizers said the goal was to celebrate community identity while giving young residents a lasting voice in how their town is represented. Teachers and parents who took part described the process as a way to encourage creativity and pride in local heritage.

Now installed in a central public space, the ceramic mural invites residents and visitors to see Pembroke through a different lens. It stands as both a work of art and a record of how the next generation experiences and imagines their home.
