Lombard Bank Group has reported a fall in profits despite recording stronger lending income, highlighting the impact of rising costs and challenging market conditions on its overall performance.

The bank said that while income from lending activities increased, reflecting growth in its loan portfolio and higher interest earnings, this was offset by higher operating expenses, provisions and other charges. As a result, the group’s bottom line declined compared to the previous period, even though core banking activities showed positive momentum.

Management noted that the stronger lending income demonstrates continued demand for credit and the bank’s ability to support customers, but acknowledged that profitability remains under pressure from broader economic factors. Efforts are being made to manage costs and maintain asset quality while sustaining growth in key business areas.

Analysts observed that the results reflect a wider trend in the banking sector, where improved interest income is not always sufficient to offset rising costs and provisioning requirements.
