The Malta Financial Services Authority has issued a warning to the public regarding websites using Maltese names that are offering dubious insurance schemes.
The authority said it has become aware of several online platforms that appear to be associated with Malta but are operating without proper authorization and are promoting insurance products that may be misleading or fraudulent. These websites are said to be using Maltese references to create a false sense of legitimacy and to attract unsuspecting consumers.
The MFSA emphasized that such entities are not licensed or regulated by the authority and therefore do not provide the protections afforded to customers of authorized firms. It urged consumers to exercise caution and to verify the credentials of any insurance provider before engaging with them or making any payments.
The warning forms part of ongoing efforts by the MFSA to safeguard the public against financial scams and to maintain confidence in Malta’s financial services sector.
