Traffic came to a standstill during the morning rush after a car crash on Diċembru 13 Road, leaving commuters facing long delays as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
The collision happened at one of the busiest points along the road, where traffic is already heavy during peak hours. Both vehicles involved sustained damage and blocked lanes, forcing police to close part of the route while paramedics checked those involved. No serious injuries were reported, but the disruption quickly spread to surrounding streets as drivers tried to find alternate routes.
Officers remained on site to manage traffic and carry out investigations, while tow trucks worked to remove the damaged vehicles. The backlog built up quickly, with tailbacks stretching back through nearby junctions and adding significant time to journeys into the city.
Authorities urged motorists to allow extra time and to follow diversion signs in place. By mid-morning, lanes had started to reopen and traffic was slowly moving again, though delays lingered as the rush-hour volume worked its way through.
Police said an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. In the meantime, they reminded drivers to take extra care on Diċembru 13 Road during busy periods, where congestion and sudden braking often contribute to accidents.
