Bank of Valletta has reported pre-tax profits of €119.8 million for the first six months of the year, marking a strong performance amid continued economic activity and higher interest rates.

The bank said the result was supported by growth across both its core lending business and fee-based services, with net interest income benefiting from the prevailing rate environment. Customer deposits also remained stable, while demand for credit stayed resilient across households and businesses.

Officials noted that the figures reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen the bank’s balance sheet and improve operational efficiency, even as it continues to invest in digital services and customer support. Provisions were kept at prudent levels, and asset quality was described as stable, with no significant signs of deterioration in the loan portfolio.

BOV described the half-year results as encouraging, adding that they provide a solid foundation for the rest of 2026. The bank also reiterated its commitment to supporting the local economy, including through lending to SMEs and financing projects linked to sustainability and innovation.

Market analysts pointed out that the €119.8 million pre-tax profit positions BOV well compared to the same period last year, and underscores the bank’s role as one of the largest financial institutions in Malta. The board said it will continue to focus on prudent risk management and delivering value to shareholders while navigating an evolving economic landscape.
