Lewis Hamilton says he’s proud of how far he’s come after admitting he hit rock bottom a year ago, describing the past 12 months as a period of reset, reflection, and renewed drive.

Looking back, Hamilton spoke candidly about the mental and physical toll of last season, when results didn’t come, confidence dipped, and the challenge of adapting to a difficult car weighed heavily. He called it the lowest point in his career, a time when even the motivation to push had to be rebuilt from scratch.

Since then, things have gradually turned around. A change of environment, fresh goals, and a refocus on the fundamentals of racing have helped him find enjoyment again behind the wheel. The seven-time world champion said the process wasn’t instant, but working through the tough moments gave him perspective on what really matters, both on track and off it.

That recovery is now showing in his performances. There’s a different energy around him this year, with stronger race pace, sharper qualifying, and a mindset that seems lighter than before. Hamilton credited his team, family, and close circle for supporting him through the rough patch, and said the experience has made him appreciate the good days even more.

For a driver who has achieved so much, the admission that he had to climb back up adds another layer to his story. A year on from rock bottom, Hamilton isn’t just competing again, he’s proud of the fight it took to get back there, and he’s determined to keep building from it.
