NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has vowed to tackle the issue of tanking, where teams intentionally lose games to improve their draft position, with a solution expected by June. Silver emphasized that the league is taking this issue seriously, citing its implications on business, basketball, and integrity. He mentioned that a special board of governors meeting is scheduled for May to discuss and implement changes to address tanking.
In addition to addressing tanking, Silver is also exploring a partnership with the EuroLeague, FIBA, and national leagues in Europe to grow the game. The proposed partnership involves 12 markets and over 100 organizations, with Silver expressing enthusiasm for the project. The goal is to create a systematic approach to growing basketball in Europe, complementing country leagues and working with existing infrastructure.
