Nature Trust Malta and Atlas Insurance have joined forces to support the Water for Wildlife project, an environmental initiative aimed at providing sustainable water sources for Malta’s native wildlife. The partnership, funded through the Atlas Insurance Community Involvement Fund, seeks to address the pressing issue of dehydration among local animals, particularly during prolonged dry periods. The project involves establishing around 50 specially designed water stations across Malta and Gozo, which will be maintained by trained volunteers and refilled with clean water regularly.
The water stations, made from durable pottery bowls, offer a non-plastic alternative suited for outdoor conditions. Each station features a QR code directing the public to further information about the initiative, while selected sites will include motion-sensor cameras to monitor wildlife activity and support biodiversity research. This collaboration not only contributes to the conservation of Malta’s unique ecosystems but also promotes community engagement and environmental awareness.
