Former Maltese Minister Evarist Bartolo has raised concerns over US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” initiative, which aims to address global conflicts, particularly in Gaza. The board’s creation has sparked worries that it might rival the United Nations, undermining its authority. While some countries like Pakistan, Turkey, and the UAE have joined, others, including France, Britain, Norway, and Sweden, have declined, citing concerns over the board’s potential to concentrate power in Trump’s hands.

The board’s structure and membership have also sparked debate, with critics arguing it prioritizes deal-making over diplomacy and national interest over multilateral norms. India is still examining the offer, weighing the pros and cons of joining the initiative.
