OpenAI is set to start testing ads in ChatGPT, marking a significant shift in its monetization strategy. The company will begin testing advertisements in the coming weeks for users on the free tier and the $8/month ChatGPT Go plan in the US. Ads will appear at the bottom of responses when there’s a relevant sponsored product or service, and will be clearly labeled and separated from organic answers. OpenAI assures that ads won’t influence ChatGPT’s responses and user conversations will remain private from advertisers. Paid subscribers, including Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, will remain ad-free.
