Perry Bamonte, the talented guitarist and keyboardist of the iconic British rock band The Cure, has sadly passed away at the age of 65. The band announced his death on their official website, stating that he succumbed to a short illness at home over Christmas. Bamonte was a vital member of The Cure, known for his contributions to hits like “Friday I’m in Love” and his work on albums such as “Wish”, “Wild Mood Swings”, and “Bloodflowers”. He initially joined the band in 1990 and played over 400 shows before leaving in 2005. Bamonte rejoined The Cure in 2022 and performed another 90 shows, including the “Shows of a Lost World” tour.

The band remembered Bamonte as a “quiet, intense, intuitive, constant and hugely creative” member, and his passing has been met with tributes from fans and fellow musicians. Former drummer Lol Tolhurst expressed his sadness, calling Bamonte a “warm hearted and vital part of The Cure story”.
