The Malta Football Association (Malta FA) has announced the appointment of Roberto Menichelli as the new Head Coach of the Malta Futsal National Team. This move is part of the association’s efforts to further develop and grow the sport in Malta. Menichelli, an established name in international futsal, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Head Coach of the Italian Futsal National Team from 2009 to 2018. During his tenure, the Italian team achieved significant success, including winning the UEFA Futsal Euro title in 2014.
Menichelli expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating that the development of futsal in Malta is one of his top priorities. He aims to contribute to the growth of the sport and work closely with the Malta FA to achieve their objectives. Malta FA Senior Vice President Dr. Matthew Paris welcomed Menichelli to the team, highlighting the appointment as a statement of intent for the future of futsal in Malta.
Menichelli’s first matches as the new head coach will be in November, when the Malta Futsal National Team will participate in two international friendlies in Bucharest, Romania. The team will face Romania on November 8 and Latvia on November 10. With his extensive experience and success in the sport, Menichelli is expected to bring a new level of expertise and competitiveness to the Malta Futsal National Team.
