Thailand’s Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, has declared an astonishing array of assets, valued at over $400 million. This impressive collection includes more than 200 designer handbags, worth over $2 million, and at least 75 luxury watches, valued at almost $5 million . As the youngest daughter of telecom billionaire and ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Paetongtarn’s wealth is no surprise. However, the sheer scale of her assets has raised eyebrows, particularly given her relatively young age of 37.

Paetongtarn’s declaration of assets is a requirement of her position as Prime Minister, as stipulated by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). Her investments are valued at 11 billion baht, with an additional billion baht in deposits and cash . The Prime Minister’s assets also include property in London and Japan, among other holdings. With liabilities of nearly five billion baht, Paetongtarn’s net worth stands at 8.9 billion baht ($258 million) .

As the leader of Thailand’s government, Paetongtarn’s declaration of assets is a significant step towards transparency and accountability. Her impressive collection of luxury items, however, has sparked debate about the sources of her wealth and the potential for conflicts of interest .
