Jason Micallef has been given the job of Special Delegate amidst the Labour’s election saga. Labour bestows upon Micallef a party job supervising the implementation of the agenda after giving way to compromise candidate Alex Agius Saliba
A new party position has been awarded to the former Labour secretary-general just after two days of dropping out from the deputy leader race. As part of his ministerial responsibilities, Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi already has the portfolio “Implementation of the Electoral Programme.” How the two roles will overlap is unknown.
Labour’s administrative committee on Thursday appointed Micallef a special delegate to supervise the party’s implementation of its election manifesto.
The position itself isn’t apparent, but many will see it as an aid to the next deputy leader for party affairs, Alex Agius Saliba, a Labour MEP, who is currently the front-runner.

Following an administration meeting on Thursday, the party announced that Micallef will have a direct reporting role to the top administration of Labour. The Labour Party further stated that party delegates will examine the statute amendment during this Friday’s extraordinary general assembly.
September 13–15 is when the Labour administration will hold elections for deputy leaders and other positions.
On Friday, August 23, nominations will be accepted for all positions, and they will be open until August 25.
